PAGAN IRELAND Submissions Policy


Please label your work! Files should contain your name and title. Please do not submit 'article', 'submission', 'poem1' or 'image1' etc. We receive a huge number of emails that all have to be read and assessed, if you do not label your work, it means we have to do it for you.


ARTICLES

We have an open submissions policy, articles must be relevant to Ireland in some way and be no less than 500 words and no more than 2000 words. Political, inciting, advertorial or blatantly self-promoting submissions will be rejected. All forms of Paganism are acceptable subject matter, as is environmentalism. Articles must be in .doc, .docx, .pages or .rtf formats. Closing date: 3 weeks before publication.


ARTWORK

We also accept original artwork and photography for the cover and inside features. All images must be at least 300dpi at print size, preferably in JPEG or TIFF formats. MAXIMUM OF 4 IMAGES per person. Closing date: 3 weeks before publication.


POETRY & BOOK REVIEWS

We also accept Pagan/nature poetry and book reviews. Book reviews must be for books released no more than 3 months prior to, or after the issue date and be less than 250 words.  Poems must run to no more than 2 A4 pages.  Reviews and poems must be in .doc, docx, .pages or .rtf formats. MAXIMUM OF 3 POEMS per person. Closing date: 3 weeks before publication.


COMPENSATION

We are currently unable to pay contributors, except for the front cover artwork although we provide free copies for accepted submissions. All contributors receive a complementary Emag and where relevant also the following:

  • Article up to 2000 words (3 page) - 2 free physical magazines (of relevant issue)
  • Article up to 1300 words (2 page)  -  1 free physical magazines (of relevant issue)
  • Article up to 700 words (1 page) - 1 free physical magazine (of relevant issue)
  • Artwork (front cover art) - free 1 year subscription of physical magazine or €25
  • Artwork (1/2 page inside the magazine) - free Emag of magazine (relevant issue)
  • Poetry (1 long poem or 2 short poems) - free Emag of magazine (relevant issue)
  • Book review - free physical book and free Emag (of relevant issue).
    We aim to reply to all those who submit with an answer within 1 month. We reserve the right to reject any submission without giving a reason - we are too busy to give detailed replies.


Submissions with zero relevance to Ireland/Diaspora will be rejected. All work must be labelled with TITLES & YOUR NAME.

Editorial Policy

We aim to represent all people within the Irish Pagan Community and its diaspora. PAGAN IRELAND is not aligned with any organisations and will attempt to remain impartial. We do not accept political articles or any submissions that are discriminatory or hateful. The Editor and/or Editorial Advisory Team will contact contributors if any alterations to submissions are needed.


Ethical Policy

We accept a limited number of relevant advertisements from ethical companies. The magazine is printed on 100% recycled paper as we aim to minimise our ecological footprint. We aim to be fair in our treatment of all people and no hateful, bullying or discriminatory behaviour is accepted.
